Without a vision, without a dream, without the goal to put man on the moon it would have never happened.
Setting goals are important as you read about your jigsaw puzzle. You need to know your end picture, your end goal. Without the end picture in mind you won’t know where to start.
Most people I talk to want to pay off their loan quickly, so the question must be, “How quickly do you want to pay off your home loan?” I can assist you to make sure that this goal is realistic by crunching your numbers - your income versus your expenses.
But how do you set goals? I find many people know about the importance of setting goals but never actually do it. Why? Most often I hear, “I’ll do it tomorrow.” And we all know what happens next…
The 3 simple rules to setting goals are:
- Put it in writing
- Have a time frame
- Tell someone
As apart of the finance process with Simplify Your Mortgage I will assist you to create your own goals that will be reviewed on an annual basis. This will help you to keep focused on your end picture.
So once you know what your financial end goal looks like, for example: “To be debt free by retirement.” You then need a plan, some action steps that you can take today because the way you treat your money today will greatly affect how much you have when you retire.
